At Passport Destilados, our commitment to supporting small-batch producers and their communities is at the heart of everything we do. Recently, I had the privilege of traveling to Oaxaca, where I met with David and Monserrat, the passionate co-founders of Mama Nabani Mezcal. This trip not only reinforced our mission but also highlighted the deep connection between economic opportunities and community well-being.
A Warm Welcome from Mama Nabani Mezcal
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting with David and Monserrat, who have dedicated their lives to creating exceptional mezcal while supporting their local communities. They take extra steps to include local artists and artisans in their business, reflecting values we hold dear at Passport Destilados.
In the videos below, you can see the beautiful bottle art commissioned from a local artist, the blue cloth made by a traditional weaver, and the black clay cups sourced from a barro negro producer in San Bartolo. Each element of their product tells a story of craftsmanship, culture, and community.
The Importance of Economic Opportunities
During our conversation, we touched on a sensitive but important topic: the need for economic opportunities in Oaxaca. Many people in these communities would prefer to stay with their families, doing work they love, rather than leaving for other parts of Mexico or the USA to find work. It's a delicate balance to discuss, as we greatly value and support immigrants. However, it's also vital to recognize the importance of enabling people to thrive in their own communities.
Our goal at Passport Destilados is to create sustainable economic opportunities that allow these talented producers to stay in their hometowns, contribute to their local economies, and maintain their cultural heritage. By doing so, we help preserve the rich traditions of mezcal production and support the families behind these incredible products.
Gratitude and Inspiration
We are deeply appreciative of the support we've received from our customers and investors on Honeycomb Credit. Your trust and belief in our mission empower us to continue this important work. It's because of you that we can forge strong partnerships with producers like Mama Nabani Mezcal and bring their unique, high-quality products to a wider audience.
Join Us in Making a Difference
We invite you to join us on this journey. By investing in our Honeycomb Credit campaign, you are not only supporting Passport Destilados but also contributing to the economic empowerment of small-batch producers in Oaxaca and beyond. Your investment helps us create a sustainable future for these communities, where families can stay together, and cultural traditions can flourish.
Thank you for being part of our community and for your continued support. Together, we can make a meaningful diffe rence in the lives of these producers and their families.
Saludos desde Oaxaca!
